How to Clean Faster in Clean the Countries
Speed is routing, not panic clicking. Sweep big silhouettes, then mop.
A slow Clean the Countries clear is almost always a routing problem, not a missing gamepass. The FILL timers on the HUD punish backtracking. This page assumes you already finished Getting Started and can grab-place without thinking. If E still confuses you, stop here and open How to Play.
The three-pass route
Pass 1 — Big silhouettes (first 40% of the timer). Walk the centre pile. Take United States, China, Brazil, Russia, India, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Kazakhstan. They are huge, they cover tiny countries, and they match continent signs without a geography quiz. Park each one immediately. Do not start a collection in your inventory.
Pass 2 — Named leftovers. After the giants move, Liberia, Pakistan, and other labelled pieces from live footage become visible. Work one continent aisle at a time so you are not crossing the hall with every grab. Asia aisle, then Africa, then Europe, then the Americas, then Oceania. The countries tier list flags the awkward shapes.
Pass 3 — Hold-click mop. Switch to the clean tool and hold click / hold LT only on the floors you used. Cleaning the whole supermarket lighting rig is a vanity pass that fails FILL 2 because you ignored two island pieces behind a cart.
Never mix pass 1 and pass 3. Cleaning while you carry a country means you place with the wrong tool and drop the piece in the aisle.
Upgrade order for speed
Open Upgrade (T on PC, Y on controller) once after pass 1 cash comes in:
- Extra carry or a second hand — two Americas pieces per walk beats a shiny trail.
- Grab range — centre pile to shelf without weaving.
- Clean speed — only after you stop failing quotas because of hidden islands.
- Pets — after a solo FILL 25 is comfortable. Pets that auto-vacuum specks are S; pets that just follow you are cosmetics. Details sit on the tools tier list.
Skip Shop impulse buys during a live timer. The shop will still be there when the quota checks off.
Co-op speed, not co-op chaos
Online co-op scales if you assign aisles:
- Two players: Americas + Europe versus Asia + Africa + Oceania.
- Three players: add a dedicated mop (clean tool only).
- Four or more: extra people become runners who only deliver to the dedicated placer at the shelf. Too many placers fight the same bay.
Call the country name, not “the red one”. Chat macros help; screaming in voice while two people hold Brazil does not. See the players hub for the runner/placer/mop trio that actually hits leaderboard times.
Servers go to 20. A full server is rarely the fastest. Hop to a quieter instance if pass 1 is already stripped.
Movement tricks that are legal
- Drop with F the moment a pickup feels wrong. Carrying a mistake across the map is the number one time loss.
- Use number keys to pre-select the clean tool after your hands are empty, not before.
- Special (G) on a buried cluster in the centre, never on a lonely island you can see from the shelf.
- Do not open Codes, Pets, or Discord links mid-timer. There are no verified codes anyway.
Executor auto-farms are not a speed tech. Nothing public targets this place ID yet (scripts), and using one is how you lose the account that holds your time.
When faster is the wrong goal
If you are still mixing Ireland and Italy, slow down. One calm How to Play session saves more clock than a pet. If your device fights you, fix binds in Controls — mobile camera freeze after equipping a cleaner makes every “speed” attempt look like lag.
Use the controls finder to print only your device row and tape it to the monitor. Then run the three-pass route on an empty-ish server. Your second full clear should already beat your first by a minute because you stopped mopping the spawn tiles ten times.
Checklist before you queue a timed run
- Inventory shows the grab tool, not the cleaner
- FILL quotas read and assigned in chat
- Upgrade purchased or consciously skipped
- Continent aisles claimed
- Codes menu closed
- One mop role if you have three or more friends
Run it, screenshot the FILL complete toast, then read launch notes in case Karpath changed quotas since 24 August 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why do I fail FILL even when the floor looks empty?
Quotas count parked countries, not mopped tiles. Tiny pieces hide under giants. Do pass 1 and pass 2 before you hold-click.
Is a pet required to go fast?
No. Carry and reach upgrades do more for the first week. Rank pets on the tools tier list after you can finish FILL 25 solo.
Should I clean continuously?
No. Hold-click is pass 3. Cleaning while carrying a silhouette is how you mis-place and drop time.
Does a 20-player server clear faster?
Usually not. People double-grab the same piece. Two or three players with aisles beat a crowd. Details on the leaderboard page.
